Jerry Atric (カラス幻ナリ斉, Karasu Gennarisai) is a elderly crow and Big Cheese's trusted advisor and leader of the Ninja Crows. His voice of reason counterbalances the Big Cheese's impulsive nature. The episode "Samurai Savings Time" explains how Jerry Atric and the Ninja Crows became loyal to Seymour Cheese fifteen years earlier. While on a journey, Seymour stumbles upon the house where the crows were taking care of a very-ill Jerry. Desperately hungry, the Big Cheese dashes for the food he sees in the hut, but accidentally trips on the threshold and falls on Jerry, kissing him. The kiss revitalizes Jerry who immediately runs around in disgust to the joy of the Ninja Crows sucked, afterwards he and his clan pledge their allegiance to Seymour as their gratitude.
Appearance[]
Jerry wears red and black armor. His beak has a white mustache and beard on it and he usually wears a white helmet with a black Tokin over his head. The white helmet resembles a wig and it is sometimes portrayed as hair. Occasionally his helmet is knocked off, revealing a bald head. He is 144 cm (4.72") tall, weighs 44 kg (97 lbs.).
Relationships[]
- The Big Cheese: He and the clan are loyal to his servitude. His relationship with The Big Cheese also has homoerotic overtones. His pet name for Seymour is "Cheesy" (Kon-chan).
- Bad Bird: (former professional relationship) He is Jerry's right-hand man, but Jerry's ideas are not always smart. At the end of the series, Bad Bird leaves Jerry and Big Cheese to join the Pizza Cats.
- Ninja Crows: Jerry Atric is their leader, but they now work for Big Cheese too, after his kiss "cured" Jerry's illness.
- Rude Noise: The elite four of Ninja Crows who rarely interact with him. They were hired by Bad Bird to help deal with the Pizza Cats.
Trivia[]
- In SPC, Jerry is the one of the few to actually be Japanese due to his accent.
- His name in SPC is a play on the word geriatric, which refers to the elderly or the branch of medicine dealing with treating the elderly.
- Tokin is a headgear worn by the Yamabushi who are practitioners of Shugendō (an syncretic Japanese religion). In Japanese mythology, it is more well-known as being the headgear for Tengu (crow-like yōkai). It makes sense for Jerry to wear the Tokin as he is a crow.
- Older promotional materials and VHS releases spelled Jerry's last name as Atrick.[1] However, Atric has since become the official spelling such as DVD releases from Discotek and Madman Entertainment.[2]
- Jerry Atric was originally planned to be voiced by Terrence Scammell as shown in the preview for Underground, Underwater, Undercooked.
- In both KNT and SPC, Jerry at times appear disgusted by Cheese's flirtation and other times, appears receptive to them.
